「ネパール土石流災害の現状と今後必要な協力・取り組み」
土木学会では、ACECC（Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council：アジア土木学協会連合協議会）に参加し、アジアの16の国・地域とともに連携活動を行っています。ACECC担当委員会では、アジア地域が直面する最新の土木・防災分野の課題について、各学協会、研究者、実務者が知見を共有し、今後の連携・協力について議論する場として、「ACECC Monthly Webinar」を開催します。
第1回は、「ネパール土石流災害の現状と今後必要な協力・取り組み」をテーマとして開催します。先日発生し甚大な被害をもたらしたネパール土石流災害について、ネパール側の機関から被害状況、被災地域の現状、今後必要とされる支援について報告いただくとともに、ネパールおよび日本の研究者から、土石流災害に関する分析結果や課題、今後必要となる取り組みについてご講演いただきます。
また、総合討論では、今後の支援や研究協力の可能性について意見交換を行います。
本ウェビナーが、ネパール土石流災害の現状について理解を深めるとともに、ACECCを通じた日本・ネパール両国の国際協力・共同研究の方向性について考える機会となれば幸いです。多くの皆様のご参加をお待ちしております。

“The Nepal Debris Flow Disaster
– Current Situation and Future Needs for Cooperation”
The Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) participates in the Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council (ACECC) and conducts collaborative activities together with 16 countries and regions across Asia.
The JSCE Committee in charge of ACECC will organize the “ACECC Monthly Webinar” as an opportunity where academic societies, researchers, and practitioners can share their knowledge and expertise on the latest issues in civil engineering and disaster risk reduction in the Asian region, and discuss opportunities for future collaboration and cooperation.
The first webinar will focus on “The Nepal Debris Flow Disaster – Current Situation and Future Needs for Cooperation.”
Regarding the recent debris flow disaster in Nepal, which caused extensive damage, representatives from organizations in Nepal will report on the damage, the current situation in the affected areas, and the support that is/will be needed. Researchers from Nepal and Japan will also give presentations on their analyses of the disaster, the challenges identified, and the necessary actions required in the future.
An overall discussion will also be held to exchange views on potential opportunities for future cooperation and technical collaboration.
We hope that this webinar will provide an opportunity to deepen participants’ understanding of the current situation in the affected area and to discuss possible directions for international cooperation and joint research between Japan and Nepal through ACECC.
