Call for Nominations for the ACECC Young Engineer Professional Achievement Award

Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council (ACECC)* has established the new award ACECC Young Engineer Professional Achievement Award. The award will recognize individuals aged 35 or under as of December 31, 2025, who have made outstanding achievements in practice and/or research in the civil engineering field at 10th Civil Engineering Conference in the Asian Region** (CECAR 10: https://www.cecar10.org/) in October 2025.

In order to nominate a candidate for that award, we invite you to recommend eligible individuals. Please refer to the application requirements and guidelines below and submit recommendations/ applications. 

*JSCE is one of the ACECC founding organizations and has been playing a leading role since its inception.

** CECAR10 will be held in Jeju, Korea, October 21-24, 2025. The CECAR, a triennial international conference hosted by ACECC, brings together researchers and engineers from industry, government, and academia and provides them with a platform for exchanging ideas, opinions, and information on issues and challenges such as sustainable infrastructure development and future research directions, and encourage them to build multilateral cooperation and collaboration to find solutions for those issues and challenges.

• Committee on ACECC (Chair: Prof. Hironori Kato) ※the committee nominates a candidate to the ACECC for JSCE.

2. Award and Eligibility

Award: ACECC Young Engineer Professional Achievement Award
Eligibility: Individuals aged 35 or under as of December 31, 2024, who have made outstanding achievements in practice and research in the civil engineering field

3. Selection Process

The Committee on ACECC will carefully review the nomination forms submitted and select a candidate to recommend to the ACECC Secretariat. The awardee is determined by the vote of 17 ACECC member societies.

4. How to Apply

• Self-recommendation or recommendation by others
• The following information must be included in the nomination form (MS Word, either in Japanese or in English):
  • Nominator: name, affiliation, and contact information (telephone number and e-mail address) 
• • Candidate: name and affiliation, and significant achievements and contribution below
  • a) Major professional achievements: summarize professional achievements in such as practice, project management, teaching, study/research projects. [Maximum 500 words or 400 letters in Japanese]
  • b) Contribution to the civil engineering profession: Explain major achievements/contribution to such as developing professional training programs, building public education programs, and increasing the public awareness and understanding of civil engineering in society. [Maximum 200 words in English or 400 letters in Japanese]
  • c) Contribution of the nominee's services to the community in or for the Asian region: Explain public services and voluntary works including works with NPO/NGOs, charitable organizations, public awareness-raising initiatives for the improvement of the physical and/or social environment through civil engineering, and the like.  [Maximum 200 words or 400 letters in Japanese]
  • d) Contribution to the ACECC member society/institution: Describe cooperative and collaborative efforts with the ACECC member societies/institutions.  [Maximum 200 words or 400 letters in Japanese.]
  • Language: Japanese or English

     The candidate nominated by JSCE needs to submit three recommendation letters in English, using the form provided by ACECC (MS Word).

6. Remarks

• The award winner is strongly encouraged to attend the ACECC Award Ceremony held during at the 10th CECAR.
  • Financial assistance will be provided to the awardee for his/her travel to attend the ACECC Award Ceremony.

  • Submission of JSCE' nominated candidate to ACECC: August 31, 2024
  • Decision on the award winner: Spring 2025
  • ACECC Award Ceremony at CECAR10: October 21-24, 2025, Jeju, Korea
